Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can control it.

Last updated: 23 August 2026

The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run bookings — your phone number, name, location while you search, and booking history. We never sell your data. We never see your card number or UPI PIN; payments go straight to our payment gateway.

1. Who we are

Readjoo Technologies ("Readjoo", "we", "us") operates the Readjoo mobile applications and readjoo.com. We are the data fiduciary for the personal data described in this policy. Contact: privacy@readjoo.com.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details — mobile number, name, email address, and profile photo if you add one.
  • Booking details — the property, seat or bed, dates, shift, and any preferences you enter.
  • Support content — messages, tickets, complaint descriptions and any photos you attach.
  • Reviews and ratings you choose to publish.

Information we collect automatically

  • Location — with your permission, your approximate or precise location, used to show libraries and hostels near you. You can deny or revoke this permission and search by city or area instead.
  • Device and usage data — device model, operating system, app version, IP address, crash logs and the screens you use, to keep the app stable and secure.
  • Push notification token, if you allow notifications, so we can send booking updates.

Information from property owners and agents

  • Check-in confirmations, attendance at a booked seat, and dues or damage reports relating to your booking.

Owner and agent KYC (owners only)

  • Where you list a property, we collect identity and address documents (such as PAN and Aadhaar) and bank account details for payouts, with your explicit consent recorded before collection. Aadhaar numbers are stored only in masked form, and documents are held in a private, access-controlled store.

Payment information

  • Payments are handled by a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. We do not receive or store your full card number, CVV, UPI PIN or net-banking password. We receive only a transaction reference, the amount, the status, and a masked instrument descriptor (for example "UPI" or "card ending 1234") for your receipt and for refunds.

4. Who we share it with

  • Property owners — your name, mobile number and booking details, so they can admit you and manage the seat or bed. Nothing more.
  • Payment gateway — to process payments, refunds and owner payouts.
  • Service providers — cloud hosting, database, SMS/OTP, push notification, mapping and analytics providers, bound by contract to process data only on our instructions.
  • KYC verification providers — for owner identity verification, where applicable.
  • Authorities — where required by law, court order or a valid request from a law enforcement agency.
  • Successors — in a merger or acquisition, subject to this policy continuing to apply.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers for their own marketing.

5. How we protect it

  • All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS/TLS.
  • Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure keystore.
  • Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel and logged.
  • KYC documents are stored in a private bucket that is not publicly addressable.
  • We keep audit trails of sensitive actions such as refunds and payouts.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you and the relevant authority as required by law.

6. How long we keep it

  • Account data — while your account is active, and for up to 3 years after closure for dispute resolution.
  • Booking, payment and invoice records — up to 8 years, as required by Indian tax and accounting law.
  • KYC records — for the period required under applicable law after the relationship ends.
  • Support tickets — 3 years from closure.
  • Server and access logs — typically 90 days.

7. Your rights and choices

  • Access and correction — view and edit your profile in the app, or ask us for a copy of your data.
  • Deletion — request account deletion by emailing privacy@readjoo.com from your registered address. We delete or anonymise your data except records we must retain by law.
  • Withdraw consent — turn off location or notification permissions in your device settings at any time. Some features will stop working.
  • Marketing opt-out — unsubscribe from promotional email or SMS using the link or instruction in the message. Transactional messages about your bookings will continue.
  • Grievance — escalate any privacy concern to our Grievance Officer at grievance@readjoo.com. We acknowledge within 48 hours and respond within 30 days.

8. Children

The Platform is not intended for children under 16. Users between 16 and 18 may use it only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. If we learn that we hold data of a child without valid consent, we delete it.

9. Cookies and similar technologies

Our website uses only essential cookies and local storage needed for the site to function and to remember basic preferences. We do not run third-party advertising trackers on readjoo.com. Our mobile apps use device identifiers for crash reporting and analytics, which you can limit through your device settings.

10. Where your data is processed

Your data is processed on servers and cloud infrastructure that may be located in or outside India. Where data is transferred outside India, we require contractual safeguards obliging the recipient to protect it to the standard described in this policy and applicable Indian law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email before they take effect, and the revised policy will be published on this page with a new last-updated date.
